Made between 2012 and 2014, the documentary film buy buy st. pauli shows the creative struggle of the so-called Essohäuser initiative for a group of apartment blocks on the Reeperbahn in the St. Pauli district of Hamburg that is scheduled to be torn down. The music video Echohäuser-Song and the crowdfunding trailer were taken from the buy buy st. pauli website, which in addition to the film offers a media archive of urban political protest. With dark imagery reminiscent of the aesthetic of drab suburban developments, Echohäuser-Song calls residents to stand together in the struggle against the demolition plans of investors. The collective The Good, The Bad And The Ugly, made up of various musicians and artists from St. Pauli, provided the artistic vision for the film.
